Members of Spaceport team winning 2nd place internationally in the Payload Design Challenge

The Wisconsin Space Programs aims to be the first student team to fly a liquid rocket to the edge of space. Engineers at WiSP design, analyze, manufacture, test, and launch high powered rocketry systems. We compete in large intercollegiate rocketry competitions, as well as do long-term development on propulsion systems.

Programs

Half Badger

Half badger is an adaptation of HalfCat’s Sphynx. This is our first liquid rocket, and will fly at the FAR-OUT competition in Mojave, California. Its target altitude will be 10,000 feet at a peak thrust of roughly 1100 N.

Quarter badger will be a scaled down version of our competition rocket half badger (CAD sourced from HalfCat Rocketry)

Torch Igniter

This is an ongoing project to develop a reliable igniter for larger engines. This setup uses GOx and GCH4 to test our setup, calibrate sensors, and create a testing procedure. The experience we gain from these tests will allow for smoother testing of larger liquid engines.
